New Local Plan 2025 to 2045

The Local Plan system has recently changed, affecting how Local Plans are prepared, including the timetable, evidence requirements, and approaches to engagement and consultation. The new Regulations (Town and Country Planning (Local Planning) (England) Regulations 2026) came into force on 25 March 2026. This means we have had to review and replace our original plan‑making timetable to ensure we meet the new legal requirements.

From 3 June 2026, Stafford Borough Council gave Notice of Intention to Commence the Stafford Borough Local Plan 2025 to 2045. This notice is a required stage in the new plan making system and marks the formal start of the Stafford Borough New Local Plan 2025 to 2045 process.

Please refer to the Timetable which sets out the Council's work programme and timetable for the preparation of new planning policy documents.

If you wish to be added to the Local Plan database and notified about future consultation events, please email strategicplanning@staffordbc.gov.uk.
