Green infrastructure is the network of green spaces and natural elements that intersperse and connect our towns and villages. It is the open spaces, waterways, gardens, woodlands, green corridors, wildlife habitats, street trees, natural heritage and open countryside.
The Green Infrastructure Strategic Plan (pdf 2.9mb) assesses green infrastructure issues, opportunities and threats in the Borough. It identifies the range of assets that are present and where there are gaps or areas of need. It considers the potential impact of growth and built development both on the environment and on communities. It identifies the range of needs and opportunities that may be addressed through green infrastructure interventions. The Strategic Plan (pdf 2.9mb) is supported by a Green Infrastructure: Evidence Base (pdf 7.5mb) and Appendices (pdf 1.7mb).
