Licensing - Safety Advisory Group (SAG)

When we’re made aware of forthcoming proposed events within the borough, it’s our policy to provide advice and guidance to the event organiser to ensure any risk to the public is minimised.

The Safety Advisory Group (SAG) is a forum comprised of the Local Authority and other relevant bodies. Its role is discussing and advising on public safety at these events.

The SAG aims to help organisers with the planning and management of an event and to encourage cooperation and coordination between all relevant agencies.

It’s a non-statutory body and doesn’t have legal powers or responsibilities and is not empowered to approve or prohibit events from taking place.

Event organisers and others involved in the running of an event, retain the principal legal duties for ensuring public safety.
