Payment of Councillors' Allowances for the Financial Year April 2022 - March 2023
Details of Councillors serving Stafford Borough Council who were entitled to claim allowances for their work as elected representatives, for the period April 2022 to March 2023, are set out below.
The level of allowances are recommended by an independent remuneration panel. This report is then considered by the Council. The current 'Members Allowance Scheme' can be found in the Council's Constitution.
The Councillor's Basic Allowance covers the time devoted to their work - for example - Council meetings, meetings with constituents and correspondence.
Councillors are entitled to claim expenses for travelling, subsistence and overnight accommodation.
Councillors who hold the following posts are entitled to Special Responsibility Allowances (SRA): Leader of the Council, Deputy Leader, Cabinet Members, Opposition Leader, Chairmen of Scrutiny Committees, Audit and Accounts Committee Chairman, Planning Committee Chairman, Planning Committee Vice Chairman, Licensing Committee Chairman, Standards Committee Chairman, Employee Appeals Committee Chairman, Public Appeals Committee Chairman.
