Resurfacing works to the 3G pitch are due to start this month, with works expected to be completed by September.
During these works, a section of the athletics track will be temporarily unavailable. However, the track will remain open and accessible throughout the project. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this period and apologise for any inconvenience caused. Updates will be provided as the project progresses, and users will be notified once full access to the track has been restored.
The first phase of improvements to pathways is planned for Autumn 2026, helping to improve accessibility and connectivity throughout the park.
Designs for the new play area will also be published soon, with construction expected to begin in Autumn 2026 as part of the wider investment in Rowley Park’s redevelopment.
The vision
The masterplan enhances Rowley Park Sports Stadium and transforms the wider green space into a welcoming, inclusive and exciting destination for everyone in the community.
Our goal is to deliver:
- a flagship play space suitable for all ages and abilities
- improved sport, leisure and outdoor event spaces
- more opportunities for active, social and family-friendly recreation
What happens next
We are set to invest over £1 million in Phase 1.
Phase 1 works will also include:
- inclusive destination play area
- learn to ride area
- woodland planting
- pathways
- breakout spaces
- green gym equipment
Phase 1 is set to be completed during 2027.
Further phases will include:
- cycling pump track
- wheeled sports area
- obstacle course
- car park improvements
- ‘Changing-Places’ facility
- enhanced and additional pathways and lighting
- additional planting
- new community sports hub and changing rooms
- new public toilets
- community garden
- tennis courts
- improved multi use games area
