Businesses across Stafford Borough are being invited to one of a series of workshops over the next few months aimed at helping them grow.

Six free workshops have been arranged by Stafford Borough Council in collaboration with Executive Training and Consultancy Ltd and will be taking place at Aston Marina in Stone.

The first gets underway tomorrow (17 September) and will run into next year with the final session taking place in March. There will be refreshments provided throughout the day.

Topics for discussion include targeting customers, finance, funding and grants, contingency planning and technology.

Everyone attending will also sign up to a follow up half-day workshop and will receive a free two-hour face-to-face business review to help them put together a strategy for growth.

The support is part of a series of initiatives being rolled out by the borough council with funding from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF). The council was awarded one of the largest pots of money in the country and successfully put forward schemes to help the visitor economy, regeneration, climate change and culture.

The council is looking for around 100 local businesses to take part from a wide range of sectors including manufacturing, logistics, professional services and construction.

Councillor Ant Reid, Cabinet Member for Economic Development and Planning, said: “It is great to see yet another initiative to help businesses. But this is a bit different from other schemes. We've heard how skills, knowhow and practical help are needed, and are bringing these workshops to our communities so we can make a difference where it counts.”

He continued: “We have some tremendous firms and enterprises across the borough and I want them to put their name forward and join us in this latest initiative which is designed to help them go for growth. And this is supported by experts who will be providing the business skills and solutions to help you on that journey of growth.”

He added: “I’d encourage any business out there to take a look and see if this is for them - but also have a look at the other packages of support, advice, funding that you may be eligible to apply for.”
