More than 4,000 residents across Stafford Borough who receive a Single Person’s Discount on their council tax will be receiving letters inviting them to re-apply - or to report any changes in their circumstances.

If you receive one of the forms, it is important that you provide the information that is requested, whether you still live alone or not. People will have discounts cancelled if they do not return their forms - and could face penalties.

Stafford Borough Council will not be asking for any financial information in this review - it is only concerned with the entitlement to the 25% Single Person Discount.

A dedicated on-line and telephone service has been provide to make it easy to re-apply - with the council working in partnership with Staffordshire County Council, NEC Software Solutions and Experian.
