A variety of venues will become polling stations to give residents across Stafford Borough the chance to cast votes in the General Election.

Local sports clubs, pubs, churches and village halls are convenient locations that will be used for people to vote on Thursday 4 July.

Stafford Rangers and Brocton football clubs, Stone Tennis and Squash Club, The Oxleathers Pub and The Polish Club in Stafford, and the Methodist Church in Barlaston, are just some of the venues to become polling stations for the day.

More than 150 polling stations will be open from 7am until 10pm for residents eligible to vote.

This is the first ‘General Election’ where people will need to bring photographic identification with them to vote at a polling station - such as a UK passport, Driving Licence, or disabled blue badge. A full list of acceptable identification can be found at Voter ID | Electoral Commission.

Chief Executive of Stafford Borough Council, Tim Clegg, who is the Acting Returning Officer for the election, said: “We are grateful for the assistance of local organisations, sports clubs and community groups who make their premises available for polling stations.

“Democracy is something you only miss when it is not there, and the assistance of these venues means voters across the borough won’t have far to travel to make their voice heard on Thursday 4 July.”

He continued: “It is very important that people take the opportunity to vote to choose who will be running our government. This election will determine the future direction of the country and the outcome will impact on the lives of everyone who lives or works in the borough.
