You can ask for Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) footage of yourself, why we have CCTV and where the cameras are.
Our CCTV team work closely with the Partners Against Business Crime in Staffordshire (PABCIS) scheme (pabcis.co.uk).
Request footage
You have the right to request CCTV of yourself. There are some limitations which are explained on the gov.uk website.
CCTV images are held for 30 days for non-requested footage and 12 months for any footage requested and secured.
CCTV database information is held for 3 years.
What you can request
- footage of yourself or someone you're representing
- footage of a road traffic accident - your insurance company will have to request this
- footage of something else.
We are unable to share any footage if:
- Other people can be seen in it
- We are not able to edit out people to protect their identity
- Sharing the footage could put a criminal investigation at risk
We do not release CCTV footage to the public. If the police are investigation a crime, they can request the CCTV directly from us.
If the police are not investigating the incident, insurance companies and solicitors should contact us on your behalf.
There may be a fee for the footage.
How to apply
Complete the online CCTV request form.
All requests to us go through our data controller or their nominated representative.
You will need to provide:
- The specific date and time
- The specific area you were in
- Proof of your identity
- A description of yourself
How we will respond
We will deal with your request within one calendar month.
We can refuse your request if sharing the footage will put a criminal investigation at risk.
If the footage does relate to a crime and the police have the footage, they will tell you if you can see it.
If you want footage of a road traffic collision, your insurance company will have to request it.
