This not-for-profit community project aims to, through the power of group buying, negotiate with the fuel companies for a lower price for home energy deals for gas and electricity. If you want to know more about the scheme, please visit the Cheaper Energy Together Website.
The Community Council of Staffordshire may be able to help you to reduce the cost of heating your home with their Community Bulk Oil Buying Scheme. The idea of the scheme is that the Community Council will negotiate the best price on your oil by grouping together orders from other individuals and businesses. If you want to know more about the scheme, please visit the Community Council's website.
If you are concerned about the warmth levels in a property that you rent, it is best to first speak with your landlord to see what you can agree. The Government is planning to make it illegal in the future for landlords to rent out energy inefficient properties that are very cold and therefore you may find that your landlord is keen to improve the property, particularly if you can access any of the free, discounted offers or works at no upfront cost. If your landlord is unwilling to improve the property, then you may want to call the Housing Standards Team at Stafford Borough Council on 01785 619000 for advice.
