Universal Credit

Universal Credit went live in Stafford on Monday 26 October 2015.

At the moment only single people will be required to claim Universal Credit instead of Housing Benefit, Job Seekers Allowance, Employment Support Allowance, Income Support, Child Tax Credit and Working Tax Credit.  At this time there are some exemptions.

Universal Credit will nearly always need to be claimed online. If you do not have access to the internet, or are unsure about how to make a claim online, the Local Authority will contact you and help you claim.

Universal Credit will also be paid directly into your bank account and will be
paid in arrears. If you do not have a bank account, or need help in budgeting, the Local Authority will also contact you about this and provide help.
