The Winner of the Under 18 Male Sports Performer of the Year 2016 Award is Morgan Gibbs-White

Morgan joined Stafford Juniors at the age of 8 and was spotted by Wolves, he became a regular member of the Academy squads at various age levels. He was offered a pathway into the professional game at the age of 14, signing an apprenticeship for Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Since 2014 Morgan has been playing regularly with the clubs youth teams, over the last few years he has made further progress. Playing with the U23's elite group he regularly comes up against Premiership teams.  Morgan plays as a midfielder for club and country.

His talent was spotted by England Schoolboys and he represented England at U16 and U17 age groups.

The 2016/17 football season has seen Morgan make his FA Cup winning debut in for Wolves FC against Premier League Stoke City. Following this Morgan signed his first professional contract on his 17th birthday. He has also made his Championship League debut.

Chris Bowers - Canoe Slalom

Chris from Stafford and Stone Canoe Club has made major progress in his career, representing Great Britain at a Junior level and later in 2016 at a Senior level. Chris qualified for the Junior GB team as top boat but unfortunately penalties saw him drop from 8th to 17th place in the Junior Championships.

Other opportunities opened up for Chris as he was selected for his GB Senior debut at the Prague World Cup where he finished 58th. Chris finished 2016 ranked 5th overall in Great Britain and has moved to Lea Valley to train daily on the London Olympic Course.

Tom Edwards - Football

Tom is a second year scholar in Stoke City's Academy and was named Stoke's U18 Player of the Season. He produced impressive performance in the FA Youth Cup, scoring the equaliser as Stoke overcame strong favourites Wes Ham United on penalties.

2016 saw Tom playing for the U23s and training with the First team players on occasions, giving him a chance to test himself at a higher level. He has now played in the Junior premier League Cup, providing particularly valuable experience.
