If you have a large item such as a piece of furniture or a fridge you wish to dispose of, we offer the Special Collection for Large Items Service for which a charge will be made.

Alternatively, if your furniture items are still in good condition and re-useable please consider donating them to a local Furniture Reuse Project rather than throwing them away, please have a look at our dedicated page for further information and advice.

How can I dispose of bulky household items?

The council provides a separate collection service for bulky items for which there is a charge that changes annually.

The charge is £54 for up to three items.

Our contractors are unable to collect any items from inside a property, garage, shed  or back garden. Previously agreed items must be left out at the front of the property, or at your normal bin collection point. If your items are not left out on the agreed date and by 7am, no refund or rescheduling option will be given. If any items are removed by a third party prior to the collection crew attending no refund will be given.

General points to follow:-

• One Carpet must be manageable by 2 people, otherwise cut into pieces, rolled and tied.
• Carpet does not include underlay. This is a separate item.
• One wardrobe does not mean a full bedroom suite.
• Items should not be filled with other rubbish.
• Items must be easily accessible and at one point.
• If 2 identical items on site but only one on request form, none of the items in question will be taken. (Paid service only)
• Only items listed on booking form will be removed, any additions must be done on a separate request. (Paid service only)
