Policy and Improvement brings together 4 major areas, which are Performance, Policy and Partnerships, Communications and Customer Service. Each area supports the Council's priority of 'Leading and Delivering for our Community'.

Our Customer Service section is responsible for creating a customer-focused environment within the Authority through the provision of an all-encompassing customer one-stop contact centre.  They are also responsible for providing the lead on the modernisation of service through the introduction of the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and Electronic Document Records Management (EDRM).

The Policy and Partnership Team is responsible for the strategic development of policy, improvement and partnerships across the Borough.

Areas of responsibility include:-

1.  Corporate Executive Functions:-

  • Formulation of Strategic Corporate Policy in relation to 6 year Corporate Plan and Community Action plan
  • Performance and Project Management
  • Transformation and Improvement
  • Equalities
  • Corporate Support to the Chief Executive including letting of accommodation space

2.  Formulation and development of strategic partnerships in respect of:-

  • Locality Working
  • Community Safety
  • Environmental Management/Biodiversity
