Stafford alive with the sound of music

Date: 12 Sep, 2017

A wide range of activities are on offer this weekend as part of the annual arts festival in Stafford.

The town centre will be awash with music, dance and colour on Saturday (16th) when the festival returns for its seventh year.

Organisers have promised a packed programme of events throughout the day with local, national and international performers bringing their talent to the county town.

Thousands of people are expected to enjoy highlights such as the Bollywood style dancers and Art Brasil – bringing Brazilian dance and music to the Market Square. Stafford Operatic Society will be performing songs from their forthcoming musical ‘Sister Act’ and other musical genres taking place in the ‘Square’ include folk and rock ‘n’ roll.

The festival is organised by the Borough Council and Town Centre Partnership and will run from 10am until 4pm this Saturday.

The Square will play host to many of the performances with other venues around town providing entertainment such as a free children’s paint party at Indoor Market and craft workshops in the Ancient High House.

Councillor Frances Beatty, Cabinet Member for Planning and Regeneration at the Council said: “There is a packed programme which will provide a great draw for thousands of people who come in to the town to enjoy a vast array of entertainment. It is a wonderful day full of colour and music – and there really is something for everyone.

“It is also an excellent opportunity for artists to showcase their talents, for residents and visitors to enjoy a day out, and for our county town to shine.”
