New Mayor for Stafford Borough

5345_New_Mayor_for_Stafford_BoroughThe new Mayor of Stafford Borough has been sworn into office.  

Councillor Aidan Godfrey was made Mayor at the annual Mayor Making Ceremony on Saturday (May 13), which took place at the Gatehouse Theatre.  

Councillor Godfrey, who represents Stafford’s Common ward, has been a Borough Councillor for 22 years.  

He succeeded the previous Mayor, Councillor Geoff Collier. 

Councillor Godfrey, 54, was born in Manchester but moved to Stafford in 1987 and has worked in the print industry since he left school. His wife of 28 years, Wendy will be Mayoress. 

His chosen charities are Staffordshire Women’s Aid and Community Link Stafford and District. 

The new Deputy Mayor will be Councillor Brian Price, who represents Stafford's Swynnerton and Oulton ward. 

Councillor Price will take over from current Deputy Mayor, Rowan Draper.
