"The creation of high quality, beautiful and sustainable buildings and places is fundamental to what the planning and development process should achieve. Good design is a key aspect of sustainable development, creates better places in which to live and work and helps make development acceptable to communities”. National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) Paragraph 126.

The design and impact of new development on our towns and villages and rural environments is an important consideration in planning decisions. From the quantity and balance of what types of development should be allowed to the suitable styles and forms of architecture that complement the existing area; all are essential considerations in the designing and shaping of our towns and countryside to ensure we protect and enhance the character of our local places.
